Hoyt Axis limb fittings. How to put almost any limb on your Axis riser with the standard fittings.

Or convert your Axis to ILF limb fittings.

Pictured below is a limb conversion kit as manufactured by Hoyt.

1. Left side is the top retaining screw.

2. Middle is the press fit bushing which goes into the limb in place of the dovetail bushing.

3. Right is the adaptor fitting which both the top retaining screw and the thumbscrews screw into.

The sequence of assembly, (Without the limb for clarity) goes as below.

First note the thumbscrew as extended fully, goes through the lateral adjustment dowel. This dowel is shimmed either side to locate the limbs in line with the riser.  Before you wind the limbs in or out with the limb poundage adjustment bolt, loosen this lateral adjustment dowel first, or you'll bend or break the thumbscrew bolt. Remember to tighten it after you've finished!

Here is the adaptor fitting, screwed into the thumbscrew.  Note that the lip is not level with the bottom of the hole it goes into.

Next, the press fit bushing which is inside the imaginary limb is next in the assembly.

Then the screw goes on top to secure the adaptor within the press fitting.

Note that the bottom of the limb would touch both the locating lip on the press in adaptor and also the surface of the lateral adjustment bolt when the limb is installed.

At the 2008 AIS International Invitational Day in Canberra, I met Jake Kaminski who has converted his Axis accept the International Limb Fittings.  This is done by fitting the lateral adjustment bolt from one of the newer Hoyt risers and relieving the square cut channel so that the dovetails have clearance.

Jake did his with a Dremel tool, but said another USA archer has had his machined out for a perfect factory look.

Note Jake's Axis has something missing in it's profile....  yep. Thumbscrews.
